The "Lanyard Loop" is the white-grape cousin of our "Funnels" pet-nat — same idea, different fruit. Maureen and I press Pinot Gris off the skins for our white wine program, then take the spent skins and rehydrate them with early-picked, high-acid Aligoté juice. The Aligoté pulls a beautiful pale amber-orange color out of the Pinot Gris skins, plus a touch of skin tannin, and the result is a sparkling wine that drinks somewhere between a rosé and an orange wine.
Native yeast in stainless until almost dry. Bottled as a pétillant naturel and finished inside the bottle. Hand disgorged. Minimal sulfur.
Fruit comes from Moeller Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton at 300 feet — practicing organic, cool late-ripening site, sandy loam. The kind of vineyard that makes this style possible.
Tasting Notes
Pale amber-orange with lively natural bubbles. Stone fruit, orange peel, and white tea on the nose. Light-bodied, crisp, with a hint of tannin from the skin contact.
Pairing & Serving
Grilled vegetables, fresh salads, shellfish, light cheeses. Serve chilled (45–50°F).
