Grüner Veltliner is Austria's everyday white — the bottle you grab on the way home from work in Vienna. Maureen and I planted ours at Morning Mist Vineyard out in Sheridan, one of the westernmost sites in the Willamette Valley. The coastal range parks itself between the vineyard and the ocean, so cool marine air rolls in every night and drops the temperature hard. That preserved acidity is the whole reason this grape works here.
We direct-press the fruit (no skin contact), ferment with native yeast, and age in neutral French oak for fourteen months. Minimal sulfur. No fining, no filtration. Crisp, mineral, food-friendly. Don't let the name throw you.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw with light green highlights. Crisp white peach, green apple, and delicate citrus blossom on the nose. Bright acidity with mineral undertones, lime, white pear, and a touch of subtle creaminess.
Pairing & Serving
Seafood, grilled vegetables, light salads, mildly spiced Asian cuisine. Serve chilled (50–55°F).
