Sonrisa Vineyard sits high in the Rattlesnake Hills at 1,000 feet, planted to head-trained bush vines — the old, low-to-the-ground style you see in the Rhône and Spain. The vines have to work harder for water and the fruit ripens slowly and concentrated. Perfect for Grenache.

Maureen and I gave this one our long treatment: 100% whole cluster, sixty days on the skins, native yeast, then eighteen months in neutral French oak. The extended skin time builds a backbone of soft tannin and the long oak rest rounds everything out. No fining, no filtration, minimal sulfur. Drink it slightly chilled in summer with grilled anything.

Tasting Notes

Medium ruby with bright clarity. Red currant, ripe strawberry, subtle spice, and earthy notes on the nose. Smooth and expressive with soft tannins, bright acidity, and cherry, raspberry, and dried herbs on the palate.

Pairing & Serving

Roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, vegetable tarts, lightly spiced Mediterranean dishes. Serve slightly chilled (55–60°F).
