Zweigelt is an Austrian grape that has absolutely no business being this good at the western edge of Oregon. And yet. Morning Mist Vineyard at 700 feet, sandy soils, coast range keeping the nights cold and the acid dialed in. We planted it because we were curious. We keep making it because it keeps surprising us.
Whole cluster, foot-stomped, 45 days on skins. Spicy pepper and dark cherry on the nose, firm tannin, bright acid, and enough structure to age if you can keep your hands off it. 25 cases total. Roast chicken, duck with cherry sauce, or anything that wants a little spice next to it.
