High Pass Vineyard | Lower Long Tom AVA (sustainably farmed)
Ever tried Scheurebe [shoi-reeba]? It’s a crossing of Riesling and Bouquet Blanc mostly found in Austria and Germany. Joe fell in love with the Scheurebe of Hans Wirsching from the Franconia region of Germany: “In 2022, I tasted that Hans Wirsching Scheurebe and I remember how bonkers it was to smell and taste black currants and blood oranges in a dry white wine!
2021 was our first year working with Scheurebe, where we made it into an orange wine but in 2022, we decided to take a different approach and make it into a crisp white wine. We pressed whole clusters of partially botrytis-affected Scheurebe grown on forty-year-old vines at High Pass Vineyard in Junction City, Oregon. The wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels for 16 months. A delicious medium-bodied nectar with inviting floral aromatics and infused with honey and tangerine on the palate.
